As well as being pirates…

…we have been counting, counting and counting!

We have directed a Beebot (a little robot) around a treasure map and investigated different materials.

We have also had fun in the playground.

Take a look at our pictures.

We be pirates…

The children are loving our topic; we have dressed up as pirates, given ourselves pirate names, imagined ourselves travelling to far-off lands and we have read many exciting stories.

We are really looking forward to our trip to The Matthew next Tuesday, don’t forget to send your child wearing a coat, sensible shoes and of course a pirate outfit! Parent helpers are welcome to dress up too!

Welcome to Jay Class

The children have had a wonderful start to the year and have been very busy painting, counting, writing and smiling! Our topic this term is on the theme of pirates, take a look at the topic overview here: Autumn topic web

We will endeavour to post updates regularly.

If your child is in Year 1 please remember to attend the open afternoon next Friday 22nd September.

World Book Day

The children looked fantastic in their costumes and we had a great day. We looked at the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We told the story using actions, we built the beanstalk, giant and castle, we did some ‘bean’ maths and even planted beans. A wonderful day!

Welcome back

We hope you all had a fabulous half term break. We have an exciting term ahead of us, our topic for this term is Jack and the Beanstalk, please see the topic overview for more information.

Don’t forget it’s our trip to The Egg Theatre this Friday ( 24th February). The children need to come to school as normal wearing their uniform. Our coach leaves early afternoon and returns us to school before the end of the school day. Collect your child as normal at the end of the day. We’re getting quite excited about watching the performance!

Forest School

What a fantastic way to end the term! We had so much fun, we made dough twists and cheese quesadillas and cooked them over an open fire. Dens were built, wood was whittled into the shape of penguins (we love penguins), medals were sawn and hedgehogs were created from clay and sticks. We loved being outside in the open air, a great day was had by all. Oh and the popcorn was delicious!
